How do I create a poll in Poll Guru?

Creating a poll in Poll Guru is a very simple and intuitive process. Begin by logging into your account and clicking on the blue button 'Create Poll". This will bring you to the set-up page.

1. Next, Choose a Title for your poll and enter it into the box.

2. Choose Asynchronous (participants play at their own speed and at any time) or Synchronous (Participants answer the questions one at a time, while you control the speed).

3. Optionally, enter a description of your poll.

4. Advanced Options:

* Choose Number of Days to Retain Responses: 0 (Keep responses until you decide to clear it- no time limit) or to any number of days you set. For example, if you wanted to keep the poll responses for 30 days, type '30' in the box.

* Redirect Link**: Type your HTML link in this box to redirect your participant to a specific link. Otherwise, they will be directed to our homepage when the poll has been completed.

* Display Results to Users: Turn this button to 'on' if you'd like to display the poll result at the end of each question. Turn to 'off' if you do not want to display them.

* Show the Clear Button: Turn this button to 'on' to be able to clear resluts whenever you want to do so.

* Show the Export Button: This gives you the ability to export the results.

* Turn Static Game Pin to 'on': A static game pin is important when you are using the poll in an e-learning module. When it is turned off, the game pin changes each time you play. When it is turned on, the game pin will not change and you can provide a direct link to the participant

* Enable Teams: Turning this button on will allow you to set up teams by providing a box(es) to enter team names.

5. Click 'Create Poll'.

How can I share my BUZZ or Poll Guru templates with my team?

When you have a team license for Poll Guru or BUZZ, you can share any game or poll you create with your team.

BUZZ: When you create the game, turn the ‘available to everyone in my organization’ box to 'public'.

What's the difference between Synchronous and Asynchronous polls?

Synchronous vs. Asynchronous is a game changer for Poll Guru! Let's look at a couple use cases:

Use Case #1

You want to have a group of people complete the poll at the same time. What type should you use? Synchronous! When you activate the synchronous setting on a poll, your participants cannot move to the next question until you allow it! Also, when this setting is turned on, your participants can give on-the-spot feedback using emoticons on their screens.

Use Case #2

You want your participants to take your poll on their own time and at their own pace. You want to review everyone's feedback at the same time at a later date? What type should you use? Asynchronous! Asynchronous polls can be taken anytime by your participants. You can turn on or off the ability for your participants to see each others responses after they submit their results.

Use Case #3

You have recorded an epic video and want the viewers to answer a few short questions after the video is complete. The video can be played anytime by the participants. What type should you use? Asynchronous! You can have the participants take the poll immediately after the video is complete. This is a great way to simulate interaction in an eLearning session as well!

How do I add/edit questions within an existing BUZZ game?

To add/edit questions to an existing BUZZ game, simply:

1. Log into Gamification Guru. (https://gamificationguru.com/login)

2. Click on the BUZZ menu from the left hand navigation. Your list of available BUZZ games will display.

3. Find the BUZZ game questions you want to add or edit.

4. Click the Edit icon.

5. Add questions by selecting one of the question types at the bottom of the page.

6. Complete the question form.

7. Select the correct answer(s) by clicking the checkmark next to the correct answer.

8. Click the green Create button.

Repeat this process for as many questions as you require for your game.

Can a participant user use a computer/tablet or smartphone to play BUZZ?

Yes, because BUZZ is web-based. It is available on any device that has access to the internet.

Simply have participants go to: Player.Buzz and have the participant enter the game pin number to start the game. The game pin will be automatically be shown on your host screen when you launch the game.

How do I edit a poll I have created?

There are a few ways to edit an existing poll.

Begin by logging into your account. Then choose the poll you want to edit.

Choosing the green pencil (update) icon will allow you to edit the current poll. This will take you to the set up page where you can make any changes to the set up or add/delete a question.

Choosing the orange plus-sign (add) icon will bring you directly to the add question page.

Choosing the blue eye (view) icon will allow you to view all the questions in the poll. You can choose to edit or delete any question.

Choosing the gray (copy) icon will automatically create a new copy of the poll you chose. This is an easy way to make changes specific to another group without recreating a whole new poll.

Choosing the black (play) icon allows you to view the polling presentation view.

How are teams used in a poll?

Upon entering the poll, the participant will be asked to choose the team from the options you have set up.

How do you play a BUZZ game with teams?

BUZZ can be played in person with teams who are together and can use one device to answer the questions.

Because each player needs to answer questions on a device, it cannot be set up for teams virtually, but you could have each player can represent a team, taking turns answering or tallying how many from each team get the correct answer.

How do I clear the participant responses?

Click the 'Create Poll' button or choose your poll and click the green 'Update' icon.

Choose:

From the Presenter View inside the poll:

The presenter can clear the participants answer to each individual question by clicking the 'Clear Answers' link on the left blue side bar. Link is at the top, just underneath the Pin number.
